Here's how I do it, this is a slight variation on the instructions in the One Block Wonder book. I cut 4 strips 7/8" wide, one for each side of the quilt, it's OK to join strips together, they're so skinny. Then you sew the strip to your quilt as you would any border, 1/4" seam and press the seam towards the skinny border, do all four sides the same,opposite sides first. Then when I join the outer border, I line up the left side of my piecing foot (which is 3/8" wide) with the stitching line, this ensures that the skinny stays a straight 3/8" inch wide.
