Heritage Glory or
I call mine, A Star from Heaven, and I’ll tell you why.
I thought I was finished, for this year making quilts, for veterans. However, Saturday night one of our niece’s asked about getting a quilt, for a WW2 veteran. She is a hospice nurse and he is under her care. I told her I didn’t have any more made. So Saturday morning I started cutting out this quilt called Heritage Glory ( Google it ). Mine is measured differently because I made off the picture, my size came out 65x81 which is near the size I wanted, whereas theirs is 70 something x 90 something.
Sunday night I sent a text/ picture to my youngest daughter. She said mom, look at the picture from the side. So I did and look what it shows. A Star over each white ‘cross’. 3 small crosses and 2 taller ones. I said a Star ( Jesus) came from Heaven, died on the cross for all of us, so I think this quilt is perfect, for someone so near his end of life. I quilted it in 3 hours, which is a first for me and I took a 15 minute break and ate supper!. I said I think God’s hand was in all of this, bc I have never finished, from beginning to end, a quilt so fast. Everything from beginning to ending worked out perfectly and in record time, so I do believe it wasn’t my doing alone. I sewed the binding on Tuesday (yesterday) morning. I want to get this quilt to him while he can still enjoy it. I am so thankful that I was called and able to do this. It warms my heart & soul.
