Quite some time ago, one of my son-in-law’s brought me this quilt that his grandmother made. I never met this g-ma as she had died years before. It had this extremely large piping sewn all around the outer edge that neither my son-in-law nor my daughter liked. She said she would probably never use it with that big cording but would like it better with just a binding. Like I said, I had it awhile not really wanting to fix it if they weren’t going to use it anyway. So I had it out today when they came after church ready to just give it back like it was. However, when I asked if they would actually use it they said yes. I told my daughter if she would help me by just handling the weight I would cut the cording off and re-bind it. Here is the after pictures and I wish I would have taken a before. I did take a picture of the size of the cording in comparison to my fingers. I also took some of the quilt on one of my beds. The fabric is mostly chinz on top and all chinz on back. I told my daughter we sewed this type fabric in late early 80’s at the sewing factory. I never liked the shine of it but it was a good quality fabric. It was used a lot in throw pillows or bedding. Just thought I’d share Gray’s quilt from his g-ma.
