Same thing happened to me!
Even buying as needed, I'd be hesitant, as if it has been sitting in the store too long, the same thing might happen.

To me, 505 is more forgiving than the fusible.
If you want to pull back a section and realign, it's easy enough with the 505.
But with the fusible, once you hit it with that iron ... toooo late to change!
