I wouldn't necessarily think the previous owner bought the wrong bobbins. At this point I know I have at least 5 different bobbins (probably more) in my machines, and it's easy for the extra ones to migrate to the wrong machine.
I've gotten random parts with some of my vintage machines that don't belong to that machine. I still have a throat plate that I haven't identified. It was with my Bernina 930 when I got it, but doesn't belong to that machine. I think that's fairly common.
