Question for everyone: So how to adjust a pattern so that there is a 1/4" seam above the point on the edge of the block? The pattern is "Twisting Star" on Quilter's Cache. I couldn't get my purple points to have a 1/4" seam above them so they could be sashed. All the points looked like the one in the pattern but I want my points instead of a seam cutting them off. Do you think longer and taller trapezoids might do it?

The second page of this pattern has some links to quilts made by others using the pattern. Some of the quilts were adjusted to add two of the boundaries as sashing and the others all had chopped points. The upshot is that the pattern was intended to have chopped points.
So how to adjust it to make it have those edge points have an extra 1/4"?
