Start collecting unusual beads, buttons, ribbons, charms, and anything else you want to incorporate into a crazy quilt now so when you start crazy quilting with nonstop capacity, you have a collection to choose from at your fingertips.
Do you have used clothing stores in Finland? Great buttons (and fabrics) can be found affordably there.
It is so exciting to be a beginning quilter! Enjoy working on your machines! Once you can repair them yourself, you will definitely be off and running.

I started filling a box of fabric scraps and cords. So nice to have an excuse to gather nice things 🤭I love recycling centers and thrift shops. There are many around, luckily.
Today I braced my fear and went to the hardware shop to get proper tools to open and clean my Elna and I am proud I accomplished some already. I hope it kick starts my fixing journey. So liberating to be able to maintain and fix a machine, especially after some not so nice experience.
