Who let the dogs out!
Hi Quilters! Can you tell I had fun designing this layout? I started by trying the dog block out. I thought he was so cute, so I thought I’d make a ‘small’ quilt and add some bones. As I was making I thought, it’s just too many dogs, so I thought I would make a larger quilt and the dogs needed a doghouse. Then I had to fill in some space, so I thought of paw prints. Then I said enough is enough bc now it’s 73 x 92 inches! The grownups that have seen it sure did like it so I know a child will be tickled to have for their bed. I have to quilt it, but haven’t decided how. I would love to outline the dogs, bones and paws and stipple or meander in the rest except for the doghouse. I would like to straight stitch rows across so it would look like lumber/boards. However, I know my wrist would make it harder and painful for me to ‘custom’ quilt, so I may just have to meander all over. I have a longarm but still have to quilt by moving the quilt like with a regular machine. Anyway, I couldn’t wait to show you how I have been playing.
I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. We will all go to our youngest daughter’s. She has been hosting Thanksgiving for several years now to give me a break. She said it’s too much for me to cook Thanksgiving then turn around in a few weeks to cook for so many again. I appreciate that even though we all bring a dish or two to her house, I get by a lot easier.
For those that are unable to gather with friends or family, be it sickness or distance, know that I hold you in my heart and am thankful to call you my quilting friends.❤️Toogie
ps. Second picture I added a small border of background bc after quilting if I have to trim to square up again I didn’t want to cut into my 🦴 bones!
