Yes it's specifically the hp foot plate and default 1/4inch foot for it as its the only foot I can see clearly for accurate piecing at high speed. The other options do run properly they just aren't what I'm looking to use (for the price i paid anyway). I do agree it's not using the feed dogs properly and causing issues I'm just stumped why a cheap domestic machine isn't having any bother with the same feed dog style.
FWIW I have the same machine as you, and do not have problems with the HP plate/foot doing what I want it to do!
Being that you're not happy with your Janome and it's performance, ... take your machine and samples of your work to your dealer and ask for help to solve the problem (as already suggested earlier by someone else)!!
Sometimes there is a very simple solution when someone sees the problem IRL.
Perhaps your dealer can help you sort things out.
