I have had it done on both knees. The surgeon is important. One knee was done by a skilled master, PT and good recovery. The second done by a younger doc that did not send me to PT. "You can do these exercises at home" handed me a piece of paper and sent me on my way. It still is a pain in the knee. My opinion is that he was doing as many knees as possible and did not like the follow up. That was 15 or 16 years ago. The first doc retired so I could not have him do the work again. Would I do it again? Absolutely. The continual pain is debilitating. Get it work done, do the PT and in an amazingly short time you will be doing what you want do without pain. My experience was that in 12 months, I seldom thought about my knees until age caught up with me.
Be brave and get on the schedule to have the work done. You can always learn to drive your machine with the other foot.
