Spray baste problem, how to fix?
I spray basted a donation quilt a few weeks go (3?). I was a little short of spray, so finished up the edges with pins. I threw it over a chair in the spare bedroom.
As I walked by, I noticed it didn't look right. It kind of looked "puffy". However, I ignored it until later. You know...Christmas and all that it involves.
I finally put it on the table today and the backing is "loose". I hand pressed it from the center to try to move the excess out to the edges. It appears to be okay.
If I start in the center and (machine) quilt out from there, should it work out? If not, what do you suggest?
Come to think about it, I have an old Singer machine in the closet that does a chain stitch. I haven't used it for years. Might that help?
All suggestions are appreciated. I really like this quilt and I want it to look good.

edit: should I remove the backing and try again?
