MJPEncintas -- I was wondering what had started the first fire. Thank you for posting that. I have too many relatives in CA and I'm worried for everyone. That is sweet of you to offer your home if folks need a place. We have to help one another at times like this.[/QUOTE]
Well fifteen years ago we had to evacuate; me, My two teen sons and my excitable French exchange student son, two guinea pigs and a bunnie went to stay at friends in LA. My French son came to visit this year and talked about that fire.
My husband was conveniently in Wisconsin. When we drove north there were fires on both sides of I5.
They don’t know why the fire started. They know where the big one started but not how. : While lightning is the most common source of fires in the U.S., according to the National Fire Protection Association, investigators were able to rule that out quickly. There were no reports of lightning in the Palisades area or the terrain around the Eaton Fire, which started in east Los Angeles County and has also destroyed hundreds of homes.
The next two most common causes: fires intentionally set, and those sparked by utility lines.
If someone set the fire intentionally I hope they go to jail for a long time. Many times it’s inexperienced campers doing something stupid.
I hope everyone is doing ok in the storms back east. I heard they got snow in Atlanta.
Stay healthy everyone. Getting old is not for the meek!
