I am sure you will make a wonderful quilt for your doctor friend. I can't imagine this combination of fabrics together. But, that doesn't mean it won't be wonderful. You have something in your mind's eye for the design, so go for it! Much of the happiness of getting a quilt is that someone took the time to sew just for you with love in their heart.
