Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think it's a lovely quilt, very striking how the black/white low-volume is used for contrast.
CavMom, I pinged the designer #thequiltedunderground on IG and this is what she said:
No pattern, I’m afraid. I just made sure to cut equal numbers of squares of each color, then used my design wall to figure out the layout once all the leader/ender HSTs were finished.
QuiltedSunshine, I do believe it's an incidental variation of the corn and beans quilt pattern.
