I had the opportunity yesterday to go into one of the local Joann's yesterday that is closing. I have been reading and watching YouTube videos related to the bankruptcy and store closings. I was actually quite surprised. Lots of people shopping, plenty of workers, and the shelves were actually quite well stocked, no boxes waiting to be unboxed in the isles. I bought yarn, jewelry supplies. I looked in those isles and also fabric, batting, paper crafting and the faux lether/marine vinyl areas. No big spaces of empty shelves in any of the areas. I plan to go back once discounts get deeper.
I am also following the court proceedings on the Kroll website. Court adjourned near midnight last night, and will resume today. We all know about Gordon Brothers bid, but there is one more bid on the table, unfortunately it too is a liquidation company, and bids are closed as of earlier this week. Unfortunately it is looking like the stores will all be closing in time. I'm not a big quilting fabric buyer at Joann's, but they have been my go to for fleece, batting, yarn, and paper crafting supplies, so I will just have to shop elsewhere for those now.
