Surprised with my fabric package when it arrived
I ordered from a place that I do quite a bit of ordering from. Usually my fabric comes neatly folded, in a protective bag or plastic wrapping, and then in a box that is the actual size needed and not over large. My orders are usually 10 + yards or more as this is background fabric and I like to keep a lot on hand.
I don't know what happened this time, but I placed an order for 15+ yards and it was kind of folded, but folded so much it was basically a ball. This is a lot of fabric to do that with and it now has so many wrinkles and creases all through it. It was sent in a white plastic mailing envelope and had been taped up - basically with what looked like an entire roll of tape, over and over like someone was using the tape like they were winding it like a yarn ball. It took me a bit of time and struggle to even get it open as I didn't want to nip the fabric with the scissors. What was wrong with these people? Would it have hurt to put it in a box with a little bit of room so it didn't crease up so much.
I won't name the company (a well know one at that), as this is the first time this has happened with them. But it was a lot of money to get this fabric, to have it shipped this way. What the heck! I was truly dumbfounded when it was dropped off at my door, I actually wondered at first who had sent me the oversized volley ball until it dawned on me a second later that it was the fabric I had ordered. It amazed me that, that amount of fabric could be crunched up that tightly.
this is the second time in recent weeks that fabric I have ordered from two different places were shipped so carelessly. I wonder if this is a sign of how the orders from this company are going to arrive from now on. If so, I'm definitely going to shop elsewhere. Is anyone else seeing this with their orders.
