you can loan your books for 2 weeks, during which time they won't be available to you, automatically restored to your account after that time, I've loaned lots of books, you do it via their email address.
You can gift a Kindle w/password as said, my books are on my Ipad using a kiindle app. no way to pass that on as my passwords die with me. Which is fine with me.
