For soaking the thread, i pour mineral oil in a plastic deli leftover container, roll the thread in it until all the thread is saturated. Sharon soaks her spools over night. Take it out and drain on paper towels or blot it and use immediately. The thread is lubricated, goes through the machine like butter. The oil will not be oily or leave oil on fabric. My machine repairman says my machine looks pristine on the inside. Here is a link to more talk about it.: Sharon Schamber is a master quilter, who use to be in the high end fashion sewing business. I was at Paducah quilt show some years ago when Sharon Schamber was entering quilts to the show circuit now and then. One well known quilter who usually wins many shows told me Sharon set the bar for masterpiece quilts. She said Sharon will win any quilt she enters and always deserves it. I feel lucky to have been able to see Sharon Schamber's quilts in person.
