I just read Aby Dolinger's
post about exchanging blue and white HSTs with a group of friends and then turning it into a quilt. One of the things I love about her group's exchanged is that they all used the same background fabric - a white with grey dots print. More interesting than a solid white, and gives the quilt a cohesive look!
Aby's finished quilt used 200 HSTs in it. Her group of 5 people were mailing each other 8 HSTs once a month for "about 6 months" A really clever thing is that they did had each participant "make the HSTs a bit over-sized and each recipient will square them up to the desired size for her particular project" Love that! (They cut 5" squares for the two at time HST method, that could be squared up to 4.5".
What a fun way to get a large variety of fabrics for a quilt! I'm envious.
