Just popping in for a quick moment. I am still a long way from getting this year's quilted down, not sure where it is on my list of "2Bs" (to be quilted).
But I did make my continuous bias binding, or at least I drew the lines and will cut apart today at my sewing group. I usually go a bit larger than most folks on the binding, but this quilt with so many 1" squares, I decided that half-inch finished binding was the way to go.
I used to fold and iron my binding, one of the things I learned from other quilters on this board was to leave it flat and not put in a hard press. When you wrap it around the fabric can shift those couple of threads difference between top and bottom and I get better/smoother results without the press. Since I hate ironing, well -- win/win!
I wrap the continuous binding around a piece of cardboard torn from a handy costco packing box... you can even cut those to 18" and count your yardage easily. All I know is a 42" square makes more than enough for a queen project...
