Interesting question! I avoid yellow fabric because it is my least favorite color. I don't cut triangles, yet. And, I'll say it with confidence, Never use satin for applique. Patterns? I stay away from traditional. Other than that, I'll try anything new.
Quilt show--I entered my first one, and the judges were kind and didn't point out anything I didn't already know. I was a scribe for one judge, and I saw her find a way to be positive on every entry.
