New to the board
Hello! In July 2024 I thought about how I needed a creative activity and decided on sewing. I sewed as a teen and was always able to repair things, but didn't have sewing as a regular activity. So 11 months ago I bought a Janome Sewist and a jelly roll from Amazon and pieced an easy lap quilt top that was called a Split Rail Fence. I lost my nerve and had it professionally quilted by Missouri Star and it turned out so pretty! Then off I went! Since then I've made totes, zip pouches, Sallie Tomato handbags, gift bags, flag buntings, fabric boxes, bookmarks, quilted pillows, Christmas stockings, pot holders and casserole pads, laptop cases, a toiletry bag, journal covers, regular and seasonal wall hangings, a few skirts, valences for 2 rooms, baby bibs, and runners! I take pics of each project and have a book! I have 5 granddaughters that pick out fabric and make requests and a daughter that loves that homey quilted look. I just made a baby quilt for my new grandson using the cutest farm fabric. Little sheep serve as the backing. I am currently working on my biggest project, a king size quilt that has squares called Disappearing Pinwheel Churn Dash. I have 40 squares so far mostly using Tilda florals. I'm going to try a QAYG method because having it professionally quilted would cost a fortune and I want to do this start to finish!
I can't wait to see what you make and thanks for welcoming me to the board!
