My BFF did her entire house in an upscale Pergo-type flooring to cut down on carpet upkeep, vacuuming, and pet damage and hair removal. It was nice, but it was boring throughout the whole house...and it was only 1700 sf. Plus, even sweeping every day didn't keep down the dust bunny proliferation! That was weird! And they floated around freely I guess because of the little air eddies unchecked by carpeting.
My parents installed wood flooring in their kitchen and both baths. Dad's toilet sprung a leak and now the entire floor in his bathroom will need to be replaced. After 10 years, getting a flooring replacement to match now is impossible.
I had oak flooring throughout my living room but later I removed it in the entry due to wear in that area and replaced it with tile and marble to match the fireplace.
Does this help?
