I am so sorry to hear that you lost your job, obviously just because you asked for a raise. In this day and age, all of us are supposed to be "protected" from discrimination but I have to tell you that it is alive and stronger than it ever was. Since my DH's plant closed last June, I have seen companies turn down very qualified people because of age, size, how much they made before and yes, even their ethnic background and that is not just my DH. They just have new "reasons"---"it is just not a good fit", "you are overqualified", "you are just not what we were looking for" and it goes on. It is sad what is happening in this country, I am just glad that I belong to a group that "treasures" everyone without discrimination, and is willing to share it's knowledge. So my fellow groupies, pat yourself on the back, because if Quilters were in charge, the world would be a better place. I thank God everyday for all of you who inspire me, and share your knowledge.
