I only ever had a bad problem once and that was with a red that never stopped bleeding, but I've found heat treatment the best last chance and have been able to stabilize many fabrics. Always deal with wet fabric, I do just a tiny bit of regular blue Dawn dish detergent and swish in the sink, rinse well. Then you can either microwave in a large safe (pyrex) bowl, cover with plastic wrap for up to 30 minutes, depending on how much water/big a piece of fabric. Or, you can try boiling on top of the stove for twice as long, adding vinegar shouldn't hurt but its really the heat that is working. Warning: I used a non-food aluminum canning pot when I was doing a lot of dying/stabilizing stuff and residues built up! Do not use food dishes for non-food things.
