Gosh, SusieQ, I should have mentioned that when I was having so much trouble with a block not working out a couple of weeks back, it was my seam allowance being too small. I had to increase the light in my sewing room and relearn the seam allowance. I figured I was doing fine until I had a more complicated block, made with multiple diagonal seams per small unit. I just kept assuming it wasn’t the seam but it was. It wasn’t the pattern. It wasn’t until I slowed down, focused more and benefited from better lighting that I could make everything work out. I’m still going slower but working on more challenging blocks again and they’re as close to 12-1/2 inches as they’ve ever been. What a relief. So it’s not just you!
