When I submitted the first photo to the LQS for the log cabin challenge, some of the 'powers that be' declared that the storm units--basically all the sashing--were not true log cabin blocks and therefore, my amount of log cabin blocks did not meet the 51+% of blocks that the rules stipulated. I did a lot of inner grumbling but figured out a way to put more log cabins in the borders. The placements were a happy accident after much trial and error and many photos.
