I have a front loader and they can get moldy in the gasket. I leave the door adjar when I am not using the washer and clean the gasket regularly. In addition, I leave the drawwer that I put the laundry detergent in open as well. I clean both the gasket and the drawer monthly with white vinegar. This is my second front loader and I find that this routine keeps things mold free.
