Years ago, I bought just what I intended to use, and then kept the scraps leftover, of course. Then one day, I read in a quilting magazine that everyone should have a "stash" of fabric from which to choose. (light bulb moment!) So, I started buying for a stash, and thus began my love affair. After a while, I decided there was a goal... to buy fabric and lots of it while I was working and could afford it so when I retired, I could make quilts to my heart's content and never have to buy any new fabric! So, now I'm retired (early!) and I do have enough fabric to never have to buy any again. However, I seem to just keep adding to my stash! The enormity of my stash was brought home to me just today because I got out my collection of navy and cream fabrics to make another quilt from those fabrics. I have about 25 fabrics that are navy with cream print or cream with navy and after cutting strips from all of them, I realized that I probably have enough of these fabrics to make about 15 or 20 navy and cream colored quilts! And I could do the same with greens, teals, purples, blacks, reds, browns, yellows, blues, pinks..... oh my! I need to make about 2000 quilts before I die!!
