This sounds somewhat familiar to me. I have a different brand cutter; there's a plastic piece I would often break (I tend to press too hard). They will sell a replacement for that part, but it isn't listed on the website. I inquired about it by email, and was told that piece can be purchased separately, but only by calling the company and requesting it. My assumption is that they would rather people bought the much more expensive replacement package that includes that part, but also parts that typically don't need replacing as often, if ever. I didn't see any point in being mad about it because it just takes a bit of persistence to get around it. I certainly would be extremely annoyed if that part wasn't available to purchase separately at all.
