Well guess what? I went to a nearby town guild's quilt show today and one of the vender had the replacement kit at her booth. I bought one so now I will have two sets. She said as long as I had the handle the parts in the kit will make a brand new cutter. The handle is very unlikely to get broken. She said not many companies advertise selling replacement parts for their brand notions.
What luck! Now you are back in business and will have a spare, in case you have future problems.
I suspect Joe'smom is right - if companies don't make it easy to get a replacement part, people will just buy a whole new cutter. I will admit, I would probably not have thought of trying to find parts. I feel like I should knock wood - I've yet to break a cutter.
