LGJARN52, I think the reason for it being so heavy is the way the blocks are put together. The white sections are folded into a triangle so there's 2 layers laid over a 4-patch, then another 5" square laid over all of it so that's how many layers of fabric so far? Then you add the batting and the backing. I counter 6 layers, that's 3 more layers than a normal quilt. And we won't even talk about all those seams coming together in the middle of each block but I got smart and found a pattern that could stitch thru them without breaking a needle. I'm just glad it's over and bagged up ready to head to the new couple.
