Home again home again, jiggity jig! Just got back from the mini quilt retreat.

I got the Dragon Hoard put together, made the binding for it and the previous quilt, and had a little bit of a busy work project for "if I had time". Got the first two done, and made some progress on the busy work.

One of the gals in my sewing group had a plan to hit all 69 stores on the Illinois Shop hop. I "only" did a couple of days and maybe 16 stores with them. At the first store on the first day, I found a dragon fabric panel. I'm not one usually for panels but I just fell in love. By the end of the day, I knew what I wanted to do with it. I used that Dragon concept to help narrow my shop hop shopping.

I'm pretty pleased with how my mental vision merges with the reality version! I used the Karla Alexander technique for quick crazy quilt blocks. There are dies and templates for such things, but I wanted (a) smaller pieces than usual and (b) more variety of shapes. I learned a lot on how to achieve that. I learned some about working with panels (don't trust them to be square!) and I used up a whole bunch of gold embellished fabric from my stash. Plus pretty much all of the specific fat quarters I bought for the project. I pushed my sense of color a bit to use both orange and red,

Now -- to get jiggity with the Bonnie Hunter project and making my fabric decisions.
