I just looked at a photo of the quilt. It has flying geese blocks and pinwheel blocks. I would upsize the 'eighths' measurements and trim the finished flying geese or HST to the proper size. It is a bit more work but also much more accurate. I always make a sample block before starting a whole quilt. Well, in this case, you'd need 2 but they could become cushions later.
