I really like the look of the matchstick quilting too, and seems like it would be really forgiving. My straight line quilting is NOT straight. But, matchstick does seem like it would be time-consuming/labor intensive and lately I'm too impatient to try it. I do diagonal lines a lot, but checkerboard looks so diagonal to begin with, I thought it would just be too much diagonal and my lines would look wonky.
