I still use basic Fiskars for most of my scissors, but my sewing ladies who like their heirloom Gingher scissors are all getting Kai's for their replacements or special needs.
Maybe this is more than your ideal pricepoint, but maybe something like this set with the caveat/discussion that there are sewing scissors and there are scissors use for non-fabrics
