Yes, the blocks were cut exactly like a disappearing nine-patch... and I cheated on the eyes. I found some eyes that I liked on Pinterest and printed them out on the injet printable fabric that I use to make my labels. That wasn't taught in the class. I saw something similar on a "The Quilt Show" program. I had a bunch of leftover black and white check fabric that I wanted to use up, and it added a nice punch.
