Lena, interesting that you mentioned using so much flannel. One of the gals at the quilt meeting yesterday showed 6 quilts that she had done, all flannel. All were made using the rag edges method and most started out as 10 inch squares but some were HSTs. She laughed a large raucous laugh and said there is enough flannel for at least 6 more throw sized quilts. She was quite the collector of flannel and donates them all to a children's charity.
