I ordered a WAWAK mat from their catalog. It's "harder" than my old Olfa green mats, so it doesn't show a cut on its surface like the Olfa does. The only thing I don't love about it, is that its black! Not a problem during the daytime, but a little harder to use in the evenings with dark fabrics.
I have Fiskers matts ... one side is dark grey, the other is light grey.
Generally, I keep it on the light side, but it does give the option that might help you,
