b.zang, I used to buy JoAnn's best muslin in both white and unbleached by the bolt for backing.
If a quilter knows what they love to use, purchasing by the bolt sure saves $$$ and help keep one away from random shopping.
Goodness, if PL is in need of baby quilts in one area, I am wondering if that is true of others. Perhaps a call to the closest PL coordinator in your area would set you/me/us on a journey to clear out our stash a bit and help some new little ones and their mom have a lovely gift from you.
