I have asked every machine dealer at most big shows I go to if a magnet will harm the new fancy machines. They all said no because the parts that may be harmed are shielded. The very old computer machines may be at risk because they weren't shielded. It would take a very powerful magnet to cause damage to the newer machines. I use one like showbizgirl. It stays in place until I take it off.
