Lately I've been going thru my "stuff" and seeing what I haven't used for a long time or ever and gave it to the local thrift shop. Lots of quilting magazines I haven't looked at in probably 5-8 years, they went also, sewing tooks, fabrics, etc. all went to the local thrift shop as they have a quilt auction every 2 years so I know we have quilters in this town. I even donated 2 quilts myself to the last auction. Now that I'm just about done with gifting quilts to those in my congregation and friends, I'm thinking of starting to use up my vast stash to making quilts patterns I've always wanted to make just for the quilt auction. This solves the problem of all those pattern you've always wanted to try plus using up this vast stash of mine. Keeps me busy in the cold months as well in the afternoons of the hot months. And yes, I can always replace it all if I wanted to but I'm now 74 and still have flower and veggie gardens to tend to. I put myself on a "no buying fabric" mode since 2018 when I went on a bus tour and went nuts. I'm now at the point I have a place for all that fabric so I am making progress. I may have to buy a backing or two but I'm trying to use what I have first and then I'll buy them when I see a good sale on them.
