I got inspired and have a color design in mind, so I went ahead and purchased the pattern. I figure it's a good investment so I can make multiples of this quilt without having to reverse engineer it every time. Also I think it's fair to give the designer the $$$ for the fantastic pattern.

And indeed, the cut strips are 1" wide, and when sewn are 1/2" wide. QuiltE, your analytical eye was spot on!

I'm flabbergasted that each individual 10" square is cut and the strips sewn into each square, then turned and cut again and strips sewn in between.

I can't imagine how difficult it would be to match up all those narrow strips inside each block. Ew.

Also I think there's a design flaw here - when you flip and turn you need an 11" strip now instead of 10" because of the added width...

So now I see the value in cutting 1" by WOF, cut that in half (22-23" long). Then I sew all four squares together and the resulting length I need for the strips is 19.5" so I'm good.

I'm so glad there's sashing between blocks and between rows, because I'm not a master at matching up tiny seams.

The price of the pattern was worth getting a paper coloring sheet for all 3 quilt sizes (baby blanket, throw, and queen/king sized bed, 109"x109").

Finally - Cotton and Joy offers online coloring pages for all of their quilt patterns (in all sizes) using the PreQuilt program at https://app.prequilt.com/market/cottonandjoy. I'm figuring out how to edit colors, it looks very useful!
