Toogie - sometimes, simple can be quicker and really striking. I have been doing these "quick" table runners out of one single rectangle of large print fabric with a small (1/2 inch finished) insert / inner border. The purple and Yellow one really shows how this method preserves the overall design. If you are at all interested in "loose" directions (lol) let me know.
