Quilted Playing The Scales
Hi Quilters! As you may have read in my thread about Trips for Lia, I was having trouble layering a bigger quilt from my floor. Well $20 worth of clamps from Harbor Freight and a can of June Taylor basting spray helped tremendously with this one. It was so much easier on my joints and back. My dining table seats 10 so it is long and wide and we clamped to it. Laying the quilt longways I started in my center and only had to readjust twice more for the side edges. I did get a pleat or a pinch on my backing. I didn’t notice it until I was sewing on my binding. However, I took those stitches out and re-quilted. It’s not a pleat anymore and does look better even though it fluffs up more there.
Anyway, I quilted it on my 18 in throat longarm that I move the quilt, not the machine. I stippled or meandered this one. Lia will have a choice of this or the small trips that I quilted in a crosshatch. I may still be able to make the larger quilts by layering on my table! Yea!!!
Ps-I like the view from the side better so IF I ever make this pattern again I will make it like the side view but longer so it will become top and bottom of quilt.
