Hi, Here is my standard meatloaf recipe. We really like it; it cuts easily, and the flavors blend and the taste is really blended. A friend gave it to me, but she got it years ago from a Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook.
DOROTHY'S MEAT LOAF
2/3 c. dry bread crumbs
1 c. milk
1 and 1/2 #ground beef or part sausage
2 eggs, beaten
1 t. salt
1/2 t. sage
dash papper
1/4 c, grated onion
Soak bread crumbs in milk; add eggs, meat onion and seasonings. Mix well. Put in loaf pan and cover with sauce.
SAUCE;
3 T. brown sugar
1/4 c. catsup; 1 t. dry mustard
Bake 350 for 1 hr.
Serves 4-6.
***I use half and half sausage and ground beef.
***You don't need to soak the bread crumbs but maybe a minute.
***SAUCE: My husband is diabetic, so I usually just squirt ketchup over it before baking. The ketchup sinks down into the meat loaf and we really like it for that.
ENJOY !!Marta
