At the Dallas Quilt Show there were several quilts there that instead of seams in each individual square had folded fabric strips laid parallel to each other overlapping I don't know how much. Didn't explain that very well!...

Imagine a several row Rail Fence block (not necessarily the block they were using, but maybe easy to imagine) without seams, only folded strips overlapping each other. When the next block (facing another direction) or the sashing was attached that stitched the folds down.

In most of them the folded strips were rather narrow...at most probably no more than 1-1/2" as cut. These were really pretty quilts...of course all of them there were gorgeous!
