I just went online at Amazon.com and ordered a copy of the book. I got a "used - like new" copy for $!2.72! Thank you so much for telling us about this book. It is also available there brand new but is about $64 that way.
You are lucky to have received that book. Either it is very special and someone didn't want it anymore or it was from a book signing somewhere. So glad you got it!

Could they have sent me the wrong book? I received a book in virtually brand new condition. On the flyleaf, handwritten, is this message: "This is the official first copy off the press won in a drawing of pre-purchasers held at the book launch, November 18, 1996 at the Vancouver Public Library." There's more, then the author's name and signature. HOLY COW!!! This is the official FIRST copy of this fabulous book!
Not only is this a great book, this particular copy is a real treasure. I can't imagine how it ended up in the hands of a used book dealer in such good condition.
