Hi new friends.
I have introduced myself on the introduction board - I'm not a quilter - however have set myself a challenge to create a small wallhanging for my dad's 80th that we are celebrating slightly early this easter (2 weeks away)
Today I bought the fabric panel - musical instruments. I'm planning to use only the section with the trumpet/clarinet on it, and use some simple border strips on the top and sides.
However, the tricky bit will be creating a piano keyboard border along the bottom. I"m getting my graph paper out tonight to work out the dimensions and just how I need to cut up the ivory and black fabric.
Has anybody attempted this before? I've googled all afternoon and have not seen exactly what I want to do, but this has not deterred me from my task. I'm a cross-stitcher and I can work with graph paper. I do not want to applique the black onto the ivory. I might take photos as I go, once I start cutting into the fabric. I think I'll need some sort of photographic record of this.
(I'm not sure if I can link to my blog as I am still wetting my toes in this new forum.)
Can anybody offer any hints as to how to approach this?
All comments welcomed.
thanks
