I agree it's pretty hard to keep the room neat, but my fabrics are pretty organized. I have floor to ceiling shelves along one long wall and folded yardage is in there. I remade old drapes to fit three shelves each and thumbtacked them in place. Fabric exposed to light FADES so I'm careful to keep everything covered. I have cabinets with drawers for strips, labeled by color and precut (by me) squares and scrap in opaque boxes. The rest of the reoom (and house) is not so organized, but, in time, should I live to 150, might be. Do what works for you. Have some kind of sorting system, and try to prevent fading. Good luck!
